Atlas of Penance II marks the second installment in Flagelante’s ongoing compilation series — an aural encyclopedia tracing a network of underground artists unified by dark aesthetics and exploratory sonic vision. Each volume acts as a cartographic entry in a growing map of sound, where individual voices converge through shared atmospheres and thematic weight.
Visually, this edition expands the mythology introduced in Volume I. The artwork replaces the classical Atlas with a skeletal figure holding a globe of entangled serpents, on a pedestal inside a collapsing cathedral-like temple. Inspired by medieval religious gravures, the composition mirrors the release’s deeper descent into themes of inner collapse, corruption, and penitential burden.
The project’s visual direction spans cover illustration, layout, and packaging — and also extends into moving image.
The music video for Kenny Campbell’s “Electric Dreams” was edited using archival footage from MK-Ultra and Cold War-era psychological experiments. The video is layered with CRT distortion, scanlines, and analog decay, visually amplifying the track’s disorienting intensity.
