Casa do Avô

Casa do Avô

Country house

This country house project starting point was the rehabilitation and conversion of a ruin in a rural space to a touristic property. As the original building could not accommodate the necessities of this new use without completely removing its characteristics, the construction of a separate new building with a low visual impact was determined to be the best solution. This new wooden building encompasses the rooms and is connected to the original stone building through a exterior roof, typical of Portuguese vernacular buildings.

In this way the projects could maintain an organizational clarity, separating the common areas, located on the existing building, and the rooms, located on the new building.
